WALKING THE rugged coastline of the mornington peninsula
‘The sea has spoken’, is a works on paper mapping a walk from Balnarring to Somers on a day full of change, from calm seas to large waves coming in high to the shore. The locals say they have never seen such erosion of the beach as that winter. Created with watercolour and pastel, mounted on wooden panel using Japanese mounting technique, varnished, 50x70cm
‘Following the sand lines’, is a works on canvas created at my camp site on the Mornington Peninsula, you might even find reminents of some sand and bush floor in the painting. Walking along the shore line there is a constant changing canvas of water lines, wave movements and seaweed dancing about. To the top left are the Cormorants, patiently waiting for their next dinner on the rocks, just far out enough to be safe from predators like us. Created using a absorbant ground gesso to allow a paperly mix of the water and colour and pastel on the surface. Working from immediate memories of the walk just finished. Mounted on wooden panel using Japanese mounting technique, varnished, 68x105cm
‘Protection’, works on paper, 70x50cm SOLD
‘Touching the universe together’, is a works on paper from a constant motif that has followed me all my drawing life, that of the archways of trees and the light at the end. This work is created during a beautiful pink sunset with ink and acrylic, and you will find a small rice paper sketch collaged into the work, from tiny drawings made during the walk . 70x50cm on watercolour paper.
