Along the Path, Solo exhibition, Monsalvat

ALONG THE PATH is the debut solo exhibition by Belinda Evans, representing a dedicated inquiry into the nature of journey and the transformation of both physical and internal mental states whilst walking.

This body of work explores travels through diverse landscapes, from the 16 day pilgrimage along Spain's Camino, to the local river trails of Heidelberg and the coastal paths of the Mornington Peninsula. These physical experiences served as the catalyst for an intuitive and philosophical exploration of the self whilst walking and connecting with nature and the external world.  Each artwork tis a stopping of time, captured and illuminated by the full immersion into the natural environment whilst walking.

Magic Forest

"Surrounded with rich colours of moss and bark, and the flittering light passing through the canape of trees in the magical forest."

Small works from the walking sketches along the Camino

Triumphant

Feeling triumphant having survived the first day of the Camino walk.  Noticing the small flower 'weeds' on top of the chapel, also looking triumphant to survive up so high.

Feeling like bones of a fish

After a grueling 30 km day.

The exhibition transformed the Montsalvat Barn Gallery into an immersive environment where the visual and auditory converged.  Viewers highlighted the connections found in the audio sensory resonance to walking the path, and bridging the external landscape with an internal spiritial awakening.

Opening night with Jazz Pianist Andrew Lake.
